Taxis that are happy to take your pet

Many people only discover a cab firm will not carry animals when the car pulls up and the driver shakes his head. We avoid that by asking about pets at the booking stage. When you request a dog friendly taxi, the details go to a driver who has agreed to carry animals, and the vehicle is chosen with the size of your pet in mind.

Common pet journeys from Chessington

Most of our pet bookings are short, practical trips:

  • appointments at local vets in Chessington, Hook, Tolworth and Surbiton, including follow-up visits when your pet cannot walk far
  • out-of-hours emergencies, when you need a car quickly at night or at the weekend
  • drop-offs and collections at kennels, catteries and dog groomers
  • moving house with pets, where the animals travel separately from the removal van
  • days out with your dog to open spaces such as Horton Country Park, Epsom Common or Claygate's surrounding countryside

Because we run 24/7, a late-evening trip to an emergency vet is arranged in exactly the same way as a planned visit.

What to tell us when you book

A few details help us send the right car:

  • the type of animal and roughly how big it is
  • whether cats, rabbits or other small pets will travel in a secure carrier
  • how many animals and how many people are travelling
  • anything unusual, such as a dog that needs to lie down after surgery

Larger dogs, or two dogs travelling together, are often more comfortable in a 6 seater taxi or 7 seater taxi, which give more floor space and a bigger boot.

Keeping the journey calm and clean

Please bring a lead and a harness for dogs, and a secure carrier for cats and small pets. A blanket or towel your pet knows well helps nervous animals settle and keeps the seats clean. If your pet is unwell, let us know so the driver can allow extra time to load and unload gently.

Assistance dogs are carried on every booking. Under the Equality Act 2010, licensed private hire drivers in England must carry assistance dogs at no extra charge, unless they hold a medical exemption certificate.

Pets on longer journeys

Taking your dog to stay with family, or collecting a pet from a breeder, can mean a longer drive. Tell us the destination and we will give you a fixed fare in advance. On long runs the driver can agree a short comfort stop with you. If you are flying with an animal, check your airline's rules first; we can arrange the car to the cargo or assistance desk at Heathrow or Gatwick.

Pets and airport or station trips

If you are travelling to a station with a small pet in a carrier, or collecting a relative and their dog from an airport, let us know when booking. The driver can plan where to stop so the animal is not walking far through traffic, and we can send a larger vehicle if there is a lot of luggage as well.

Book a pet friendly taxi

Use the booking form above and mention your pet in the notes, or call 020 8330 6868. You will get a fixed fare, and you can pay by card or cash at the end of the trip.
